I Miss You, Babe… And I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing

Sorry for the Aerosmith quote. That was unnecessary.

As I washed my hair this morning, I couldn’t help but think about how nice it is to be able to have a hot shower every morning. I have very long, thick hair… without a real shower to wash it in, I’d have to cut it all off Ripley-style.

I guess if I looked this bad ass, I wouldn’t mind. But I digress.

What basic things would you miss the most in a zombie apocalypse? I’d miss hot showers. And indoor plumbing. I don’t want to poop out in the woods or in a bucket or a latrine. Not that girls poop, but, you know what I mean…

I would miss air conditioning. I love air conditioning. I don’t have it in my car, an old 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, so I know how terrible it can be without it. There’s nothing like having a line of boob sweat come out on your shirt for everyone to see. It feels so amazing to come into an air conditioned building after walking around in the heat outside for a while.

I’d miss the Internet and television, but as long as I had books, I think I would be relatively okay. I don’t really look at anything all that great on the Internet anyway and television is turning into quite a travesty with all of these reality shows.

I would miss washing machines. Electricity in general. Refrigeration. Running water.

What would you miss the most? And no, I’m not talking about mani-pedis or Neiman Marcus. Basic things that you use every day.

Zombies Verses

I’m really big into premium cable. We have HBO, so I’m able to watch Eastbound and Down, Boardwalk Empire, and True Blood. When it comes to Showtime, I have to get creative. I’m way behind on Weeds, but I think they jumped the shark after Nancy had a baby. Dexter is my true passion. I absolutely LOVE this show. Last night, the season finale was on. It was epic, of course, and I can’t wait for the next season.

Dexter and his incredible survival skills got me thinking… wouldn’t it be awesome if our favorite television shows went zombie? I’d love it if Dexter got to take out his urges on the undead. He’d be able to do it publicly and without shame, and I’m sure he’d be the best zombie killer to ever exist.

I bet Kenny Powers would be a great zombie fighter. Not only would the match up be hilarious, but I’m sure Kenny would get Stevie bitten and somehow still abuse him after death.

Who else would I like to see kick some zombie ass? I’m not sure. Maybe Walter from Breaking Bad. Pinkman would undoubtedly get bitten, but I think Walter would get really creative in his survival. I haven’t seen the most recent season, but since I’m marginally employed and graduated from college, I’ll have plenty of time for recreational activities.

I don’t watch a lot of shows on basic network channels, like CBS or ABC… there’s just not enough blood, swearing, or nudity in them. Plus, the majority of jokes are awful. So, I’m very limited in my choices for characters vs. zombies. What about you? Any ideas about who’d be great (or awful) at battling the undead?

The Corpses Who Move in a Fashion That Could Be Considered Walking

So, tonight is the season finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead. The show has already been given a second season, which will be twelve episodes. The creators of the show have thrown out the writing staff and are considering having freelancers complete the scripts for season two. Perhaps this will force the show to go back on the path of the comic book’s plot. I have not read the comic books, but Mark has and has been disappointed that the show is not close to the comics. I plan on reading them to see what I’m missing.

The first four episodes, whether or not they had anything to do with the comic, were awesome. I absolutely loved them. The acting is great, the makeup is amazing, and the production values are insane. The fact that they can be this bloody on cable television is awesome, too. I was not impressed with last week’s episode. Although it set the show up for what is hopefully going to be a great finale, not a lot happened.

The entire episode was about the group deciding to go back into the city and visit the CDC. That’s it. There were no really crazy fight scenes and somehow Rick still doesn’t know about his wife’s infidelities. Andrea… come on, did she really have to wait for her sister to reanimate to shoot her? That was dumb. I would think it’d be harder to shoot her when she’d have to look at her sister moving around, eyes open rather than not moving and obviously dead.

Anyway, I’m really looking forward to tonight’s episode. I hope it’s epic. I hope Rick finds out about Lori and Shane and there’s a serious ass beating. All in all, I just hope it doesn’t suck.
